ASICS Debuts GEL-Kayano 14 in Retro Metallic Gold Colorway

A ’00s-inspired design sparking nostalgia.

Following its recent collaboration with Awake NY, ASICS has now debuted a retro iteration of its GEL-Kayano 14 silhouette. Dressed in metallic gold and gray, the technical kicks are perfect for completing a casual look.

Paired with comfy sweats and track pants in the accompanying lookbook, the sneaker takes inspiration from the idea of “Flash.” As shared by the design’s creator Hidenori Yamashita, “[it] references the burst of action where the runner lands at the heel and pushes away at the toes. Whether it’s the color, the lines, the materials, the silhouette or the texture – all aspects of the GEL-Kayano 14 are designed with that idea of ‘flash’ in mind.”

Focused around a nostalgic ’00s aesthetic, the kicks are constructed with white mesh as the base layer of the upper. The pair sees silver overlays throughout, while hints of black and gold are splashed onto the sides, heels and midsoles to accentuate the look. ASICS’ signature logo is spotted on the tongue, while the design is finished off with more of the eye-catching gold shade on the outsoles.

You can head over to the brand’s website on December 18 to add the new GEL-Kayano 14 to your lineup for €150 EUR (approximately $180 USD).
