The Meiers showcase their latest collection through a home-shot lookbook.
Continuing their minimal aesthetic spotlighted in the Resort 2021 and Spring/Summer 2021 seasons, Jil Sander‘s Luke and Lucie Meier have now revealed their Pre-Fall 2021 collection. Captured in a lookbook shot at home, the range keeps the optimal balance between fashion’s dream and reality as we continue to navigate the coronavirus pandemic.
The designer duo has crafted garments focused on comfort, a keyword for the industry this year. “What’s happening, it’s just impossible to ignore no matter how much designers are prone to live in a sort of creative bubble. This is presently the world we have to face, so we felt that in our work, it is really important that we’re not totally in dreamland,” Lucie Meier shares in a conversation with Vogue.
The resulting collection fuses the label’s signature style with relaxed silhouettes and staple designs. Looks are kept Zoom call-ready with a single-breasted lapel-less blazer, along with comfortable bottoms such as maxi-length A-line skirts in black, ivory and lilac shades. Elsewhere, trousers come in straight-legged fits with slits at the hem for a flared effect. The “new normal” lifestyle is reflected on a series of track pants that can double as formal wear with their rich green hue. More highlights include a beige leather set styled with bold golden jewelry, a ribbed dress with contrasting zippers and an oversized wool sweater.
