SAYE Launches Eco-Friendly Sneakers Made With Recycled Mango
Reduce your environmental impact with these sustainable kicks.
SAYE, the Spanish brand making sustainable sneakers, is now expanding its offering with a new vegan iteration made using recycled mangoes. Arriving in the Modelo ‘89 silhouette, the latest release is a further expansion of the label’s effort to create more eco-friendly footwear options.
Discarded mango fruits, sourced from Fruitleather Rotterdam, are processed into durable bio-based leather to construct the majority of the shoe. The sneakers are additionally crafted using corn vegan leather, while the removable insoles are made with recycled PU foam and the outsoles with a natural and synthetic rubber mix. Keeping the design fully vegan, the shoelaces come in organic cotton, and the packaging in a fully biodegradable bag.
The kicks, just like their other vegan counterparts, boast a minimal and vintage-inspired aesthetic. Dressed in an ivory tone overall, contrast is added to overlays on the sides and heel in a dark brown shade. SAYE’s branding is stitched onto the laterals, with Modelo ‘89 embossed on the midsole.
Take a closer look at the Modelo ‘89 “Vegan Mango” below. You can head over to SAYE’s website to pre-order the kicks for €160 EUR (approximately $196 USD).
