5 Things You Need to Know About Virgil Abloh's FW20 Off-White™ Show in Paris

Highlighted with the designer’s take on the Air Jordan 4.

Rounding off the fourth day of Paris Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2020 season was Off-White™, which invited guests to a show filled with asymmetry and unbalance. Titled “Slightly Off,” Virgil Abloh created contrasting garments that were accompanied by accessories and glam following the same theme, along with a highly anticipated collaboration with Nike for the Air Jordan 4.

The runway was highlighted by the Hadids, this time including not only Bella and Gigi but also their 56-year-old mother Yolanda. Completing the show space were stars including Teyana Taylor, Usher, Tyga and more.

Location

Virgil Abloh took over the AccorHotels Arena for his latest runway, filling the venue with dim red lights just ahead of the show. The space was accentuated with a selection of Mercedes-Benz vehicles that were chopped in half and placed horizontally and vertically on the floor.

Collection

Bella Hadid kicked off the show in an Elizabethan-inspired dress highlighted with ruffles. Following a range of cow-print items including jackets, skirts, bucket hats, bags and boots, the designer stayed true to the title of the runway “Slightly Off” with unconventional garments that were asymmetrical. Dramatic chiffon gowns were paired with hoodies, windbreakers and cargo pants with camouflage prints.

Beauty & Accessories

With makeup by Fara Homidi, models sported glossy lips and fluorescent pink mascara to accentuate a clean base. Meanwhile, hairstyles were inspired by the ’90s mood, kept straight and sleek. Finishing off the runway looks were bold accessories, such as chunky, oversized chain earrings and necklaces in eye-catching colors like clean white and bright orange. The key theme of asymmetry was carried throughout small details with earrings with unbalanced lengths or even just wearing the accessory on one ear only. Other highlight items included the Meteor Bag dressed in cowhide.

Collaborations

One of the most talked-about components of Off-White™’s latest show are the footwear and outerwear collaborations — the show provided an on-foot look at the brand’s latest Air Jordan 4 dubbed “Sail,” which is dressed in a beige leather upper with cage paneling. Also spotted at the show were cropped windbreakers by Arc’teryx which were contrasted with the dramatic chiffon gowns. While this wasn’t an official partnership, Abloh repurposed pre-made jackets and harnesses to complete the pieces.

Attendance

While the Hadid sisters and their momager Yolanda took the runway alongside other top models including Karlie Kloss and Mariacarla Boscono, the front row was taken by Teyana Taylor and supermodel-turned-musician Carla Bruni. Also spotted at the show were Usher and Tyga.
