Everlane Pledges to Transition All of Its Cotton to Organic by 2023

The commitment will start off with organic T-shirts launching on March 24.

Everlane has officially declared that it will be changing all of its cotton to certified organic by 2023. This initiative was inspired by the label’s re-invented T-shirt which launched back in 2011. Despite the product being ethically made, chemicals used in conventional cotton production harms the planet, strips the land of its nutrients, contaminates our water and endangers the people who grow it.

Due to this outcome, Everlane set out to the Madhya Pradesh region of India to source clean cotton in 2018. Farms there have switched to organic cotton, removing all toxic chemicals from the production process. The water used is clean, workers are paid more and the entire procedure is certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Starting from March 24, the brand will implement the new initiative to its $18 USD T-shirts.
