Rihanna‘s education and emergency relief non-profit Clara Lionel Foundation has responded to the coronavirus crisis by donating $5 million USD to COVID-19 efforts across the globe. The organization made the announcement on Saturday in a press release.

Addressing the need for immediate response efforts to combat the pandemic, CLF’s donation will benefit on-the-ground partners such as Direct Relief, Feeding America, Partners in Health, the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and the International Rescue Committee. In particular, funds will go towards supporting local food banks serving at-risk communities in the U.S., accelerating testing and care in countries like Haiti and Malawi, as well as offering resources and support for Native communities.

Additionally, the donation will help provide protective equipment for frontline health workers, build and maintain intensive care units, and aid the development of vaccines and other therapies. With this funding, CLF also hopes to support healthcare worker training, virus prevention and containment as well as the distribution of critical respiratory supplies.

“Protecting our frontline health workers and marginalized communities around the world requires getting ahead of it FAST. The time to act is now,” reads CLF’s statement.

To support the cause, make a donation to Clara Lionel Foundation via its website.
