The CFDA/'Vogue' COVID-19 Relief Fashion Fund's A Common Thread Names Second Round Grant Recipients
Around $1 million USD will be distributed equally to 36 companies.
The CFDA and Vogue have officially unveiled the second round of grant recipients of their fashion fund dubbed A Common Thread – an initiative dedicated to helping the American fashion community amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. According to a press release, $2,015,000 USD will be distributed for this round.
A total of $1,015,000 USD will be allocated to 36 companies including 18 fashion/accessories brands, 13 retailers, three factories and two other businesses. The other $1 million USD will be donated to ICON 360 – “a new non-profit launched by Harlem’s Fashion Row to provide forgivable relief to designers of color who are pivoting their businesses during the coronavirus pandemic and need funding to scale.” Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue U.S., and Artistic Director and Global Content Advisor of Condé Nast said in a statement:
“We are so grateful for all of the generous donations that have allowed us to distribute a second round of grants to businesses in need. It is more vital than ever that the American fashion community come together to support one another with meaningful actions, and we’re thrilled to be able to support ICON 360, which does tremendous work to benefit designers of color that are navigating business challenges due to COVID-19.”
In addition, the CFDA’s Fashion Manufacturing Initiative (FMI), a program created in collaboration with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, is committing $500,000 USD to A Common Thread to further aid NYC-based fashion manufacturers and their workforce. Eligible parties can now start applying for this grant here. With the FMI’s generous contribution, A Common Thread has now raised a total of $4.9 million USD.
