Balenciaga Launches Curated Playlists on Apple Music
Featuring exclusive Demna Gvasalia-branded merch.
Having recently debuted a billboard campaign featuring Cardi B, Balenciaga has teamed up with Apple Music to launch a series of curated playlists. The new project is set to arrive with a range of limited-edition items from the luxury label.
Kicking off with none other than Demna Gvasalia, the playlists will be created by a group of influential artists that have inspired the designer throughout his career. Each release will be accompanied by wardrobe staples like tees to be available at Balenciaga’s online store and select locations. The inaugural designs, which were previously criticized by Vetements as plagiarized in a tongue-in-cheek social media interaction, take inspiration from backstage gear from clubs and concerts.
“The Balenciaga x Apple Music playlists will be by some of my favorite music artists, each of whom I have personally selected. These playlists will represent their personal tastes and influences, giving insight into what they listen to in their own lives,” Gvasalia commented in a press release. “To launch the project, I decided to release my own playlist, including some favorite tracks that I listen to every day. This playlist is a musical introduction and representation of me. This is why it is called ‘Hello, My Name Is Demna.’”
