SZA Drops Moody Visualizer for "I Hate U"
Starring actor and rapper LaKeith Stanfield.
UPDATE (January 8, 2022): For her first project of the year, SZA has released a brand new music video for her hit track “I Hate U” via Top Dawg Entertainment. The moody visualizer stars actor and rapper LaKeith Stanfield, who is seen arguing on the phone with his partner. Stanfield then starts to walk across the beach while he reevaluates his relationship.
Last month, the single earned SZA her first No.1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and debuted at No.7 on Billboard’s Hot 100. “I Hate U” also became the most-streamed R&B song by a female artist on Apple Music in its first week.

ORIGINAL STORY (December 3, 2021): Earlier this summer, SZA took to SoundCloud to surprise fans with the release of three new singles — “I Hate U,” “Joni” and “Nightbird” — under an anonymous account.
After much anticapation, the R&B songtress has officially released “I Hate U” on all streaming platforms. Produced by ThankGod4Cody and Rob Bisel, the song was originally an exercise piece for SZA, but it turned out to be an infectious tune about heartbreak and yearning for something we can’t have. “I just wanted somewhere to dump my thoughts [without] pressure… Y’all made it a thing and I’m not mad,” SZA wrote in her Instagram post.
“I Hate U” by SZA is now available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
