Peachy Den's Knitted Vest and Matching Shorts Are Our New Spring Uniform
Designed as a set, but versatile enough to be worn separately with other items.
If you’ve been loving the sweater vest trend, then Peachy Den‘s newly launched style Stella will likely become your spring wardrobe favorite. Known for its slinky and effortlessly chic designs, the London-based womenswear label has released its first-ever knitted set comprised of a snug vest and a pair of matching wool-blend short shorts — a retro-looking and playful outfit we can see ourselves wearing for a summertime picnic.
“The Stella set has a real collegiate feel to it,” brand founder Isabella Weatherby tells HYPEBAE over email. “Our mood board was full of coming-of-age drama references.” Inspired by monochromatic looks that are prominent in ’90s teen movies like Clueless and Jawbreaker, Peachy Den has created three strong colorways — namely Denim Blue, Lawn Green and Candy Pink — to suit different styles and moods.
“We wanted to keep the colors fresh with a white contrast thread running through each of them to tie in with our previous styles,” Weatherby says, adding that the vest and shorts are designed to be paired, layered or worn as separates. “At the time of designing, I was dreaming of wearing the set out in London, and then in the knitted hot pants with my favourite bikini on the beach.”
Staying true to the DNA of the brand, not only does the Stella set make you look and feel cute in, but it is also comfortable to wear. “We construct clothes from fabrics that prioritize movement and all-hours coziness, so a knitted set felt like the natural progression from jersey,” the designer explains. “We tested different washes to make it as soft as possible — no one likes an itchy knit.” Like other Peachy Den products, the new matching set is made locally in the UK.
Retailing at £120 and £95 GBP respectively (approximately $166 and $131 USD), the Stella vest and shorts are available to shop at the Peachy Den web store. The shorts also arrive in a solid color option called Betty, priced at £90 GBP (approximately $125 USD).
