Simone Biles Continues To Win
The gymnast, clad in a “GOAT” leotard, took home her record seventh U.S. title.
In the lead-up to the Olympics, Simone Biles set records by winning her seventh U.S. title, the most clinched by any American woman.
The 24-year-old gymnast, who is a four-time Olympic gold medalist, won three of four events at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, beating out runner-up Sunisa Lee with a score of 119.650. Biles took home the national women’s all-around title while wearing a leotard decorated with a crystal goat, a nod to her status as the “Greatest Of All Time.”
Biles is a shoo-in for the women’s gymnastic team at the Tokyo Olympics. Trials, which will be held from June 24 to 27 in St. Louis, will see the top two competitors secure a place on the four-person team. USA Gymnastics will fill the remaining two spots, alongside two “individual” openings (gymnasts who will represent the U.S. but will not participate in team competition).
“I feel like every single championship stands out for a different reason, but this one stands out specifically because it’s the road to Tokyo,” Biles said of her record win. “We came out here, and we did what we were supposed to.”
