The New 'Ms. Marvel' Trailer Details How Kamala Khan Gets Her Superpowers

Marvel’s first Muslim superhero is a “Brown girl from Jersey City.”

UPDATE (May 24, 2022): The new trailer for Ms. Marvel gives a more intimate look into Kamala Khan, revealing her superpowers.

The teaser clip shows the Pakistani American teen, portrayed by Imani Vellani, getting her powers through a special bracelet owned by her grandmother.

The trailer also gives a glimpse into her relationship with the mosque’s priest, who seems to be like a mentor to her. “Good is not a thing you are Kamala … It is a thing you do,” he tells her.

Ms. Marvel will be streaming on Disney+ starting on June 8. Watch the new trailer above.

ORIGINAL STORY (March 15, 2022): Marvel has released its first official trailer for its upcoming series Ms. Marvel, introducing its first-ever Muslim main character.

Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, is Ms. Marvel’s alter ego. Kamala is a teenager from New Jersey, who is simultaneously dealing with high school and her arising powers. She spends most of her time daydreaming, which seemingly ends up becoming a strength.

“It’s not really the Brown girls from Jersey City who save the world. That’s a fantasy, too,” Kamala says in the trailer before she transitions into a superhero. While it’s still unclear what exactly will be Ms. Marvel’s superpowers in the series, in the comics, she is a polymorph, which means she can alter her size and shape.

Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Matt Lintz, Rish Shah and Zenobia Shroff are a few of the actors also cast in Ms. Marvel.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8. Watch the first official trailer below.
