ORIGINAL STORY (March 15, 2022): Marvel has released its first official trailer for its upcoming series Ms. Marvel, introducing its first-ever Muslim main character.
Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, is Ms. Marvel’s alter ego. Kamala is a teenager from New Jersey, who is simultaneously dealing with high school and her arising powers. She spends most of her time daydreaming, which seemingly ends up becoming a strength.
“It’s not really the Brown girls from Jersey City who save the world. That’s a fantasy, too,” Kamala says in the trailer before she transitions into a superhero. While it’s still unclear what exactly will be Ms. Marvel’s superpowers in the series, in the comics, she is a polymorph, which means she can alter her size and shape.
Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Matt Lintz, Rish Shah and Zenobia Shroff are a few of the actors also cast in Ms. Marvel.
Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8. Watch the first official trailer below.
