Ok So Apparently, Religious People Have the Best Sex Lives
Turns to the spiritual femmes in the chat.
If you type in the words religion and sex, at some point you’ll enter the void of Reddit threads questioning why religion is obsessed with our sex lives. But for what seems like the first time, there’s good news for sex-positive religious folks.
The latest study hosted in the Journal of Sex Research, inquired about religiosity, the importance of religious beliefs to the individual, in comparison to their current sexual satisfaction. Historically speaking, many people have felt restricted by religion and its rules surrounding sex. So much so, that millennials and Gen Z have marked that as their reason for pivoting from religious households to spirituality.
Weird how religion shames sex while simultaneously viewing women’s bodies as strictly sexual objects

As a result, it may come as a surprise that religion “was linked with overall higher levels of sex life satisfaction.” Researchers found that it was due to religion providing guidelines or “attitudes on the appropriate context for sexual intercourse.”
Therefore, it may not be that religion is the cause for a satisfying sex life. But moreso, religion provides clear guidelines as to what is appropriate. For example, if you’ve experienced a sexual awakening, think of the confusion you felt when you realized your new identity had no rulebook. For some religious people, this is not as much of a burden, because following religious norms in faith cancels out persisting, conscious anxiety. Researchers also found that religious, married couples had less sex than unmarried religious peers — but were still more satisfied.
