Valentino Names BTS Member Suga as Newest Brand Ambassador
Just a day after Jimin was named the new face of Dior.
With the rise of now-global names like BTS and BLACKPINK, it’s no surprise that another luxury brand has tapped into the world of K-pop. Valentino has just announced BTS member Suga as its newest brand ambassador — just a day after his bandmate Jimin was named Dior’s.
According to WWD, the brand’s creative director described Suga (real name Min Yoon-gi) as “a multifaceted artist; he is an interpreter and uses his talent and his work to express himself with energy and authenticity. He perfectly embodies everything that DI.VA.s testimonials stand for: diversity, inclusivity, creativity and passion.” DI.VA.s refers to “Different Values,” which is Valentino’s group of brand ambassadors.
Suga expressed his excitement about the new partnership, sharing that “all individuals have different dreams and values.” The South Korean musician noted that Valentino and creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli have “been supportive of diversity which is something that I also believe in.”
One of the first projects Suga will take part in is the Maison Valentino Essentials campaign, which spotlights the house’s menswear wardrobe essentials.
The news comes after BTS collectively signed with Louis Vuitton back in 2021, a deal that has now expired. With both Jimin and Suga signed individually to major brands, we can expect to see more of the septet’s members partnering with luxury houses.
