Paloma Wool Gets Sporty for FW23 Collection

Ella Emhoff walks the runway.

Paloma Wool‘s Fall/Winter 2023 collection is a case study in juxtaposition as the Barcelona-based brand marries austere pieces with rough and tumble sportswear, next to expertly layered knits.

Vice President Kamala Harris‘ daughter Ella Emhoff made an appearance on the runway, donning a sports-inspired red and white striped jersey paired with a severely cropped cream scarf, adding more intrigue than warmth. The collection’s decidedly early aughts approach rings true in its styling as tight-fitted shirts are paired with low-rise cargo pants, whereas thongs peek out of oversized jeans. Elsewhere, gothic ’90s floral lace dresses are paired with somber snoods, while sheer turtlenecks put a whole new meaning on sweaters. Combat boots ground cross-tie halter neck crop tops, accompanying pleated skirts that add a demure touch to otherwise grungy tops. Skin is on full display yet resists hyper-sexualization as see-through black dresses are casually worn off the shoulder and juxtaposed by baggy cargo pants. Meanwhile, swaths of warm fabric, expertly envelop models, baring washboard abs and other hints of flesh.
