A Backstage Look at Jacquemus' Pre-Fall 2020 Show at Paris Fashion Week Men's

“This is the first time I thought of a collection like it was the last.”

Simon Porte Jacuqemus just unveiled his stunning, minimalist Pre-Fall 2020 women’s collection and Fall/Winter 2020 men’s collection this past weekend at Paris Fashion Week Men’s. Jacquemus‘ “L’ANNÉE 97” range featured the label’s signature silhouettes arriving in subtle patterns and a neutral color palette modeled by familiar faces including Bella and Gigi Hadid, Laetitia Casta, Joan Smalls and Doutzen Kroes.

Inspired by the very first piece he created back in 1997 that made his brand the icon it is today, Simon Porte spoke with HYPEBEAST France backstage to further discuss the concept of his latest collection:

“I wanted to go back to that – to minimalism. This is the first time I thought of a collection like it was the last. I wanted to make a fairly minimal wardrobe that would last forever, therefore very beige, very pure.”

The women’s collection, in particular, featured an array of chic, elegant looks incorporated with beige and ivory tones, as well as pops of color like pastel yellow, fluorescent pink and sage green. Key items seen on the runway include a “barely there” top, a cardigan bralette, dashing blazers and the iconic Le Chiquito bag in an all-new range of colorways.
