Loewe Unveils Seasonal Collection Inspired by American Artist Ken Price

Following its Spring/Summer 2020 collection, Loewe has returned with another seasonal range set to drop this week. Inspired by the works of late American artist Ken Price, known for his vibrant ceramic sculptures, the capsule boasts unique graphics found on the garments and accessories. Designer Jonathan Anderson said in a press release:

“I have always been drawn to artists whose practices expand, push and challenge conventions. Over the past few years, the Loewe capsule collection, which comes out right before the holiday season, has allowed me to delve into my passion for art imbued with the materiality of craft. I have long admired the work of Ken Price who once said, ‘We’ve been cited as the people who broke away from the crafts hierarchy and substituted so-called ‘total freedom.” This is utterly inspiring. Price is the subject of this year’s collection.”

Influenced by 20 unique hand-painted ceramic plates made for La Palme restaurant in Newport Beach in the ’80s, motifs from its previous “La Palme,” “Easter Island” and “LA” series have been interpreted as prints, all-over prints, intarsia and leather marquetry. Featuring styles for men and women, the collection consists of silk shirts, hoodies, tees, blousons, washed denim trousers, drawstring skirts and shirts.

As seen in the campaign imagery above, bags such as the Puzzle, Bamboo Bucket, Hammock, Balloon and Cushion Bamboo Tote silhouettes have been added to the range. Rounding out the line are the woven leather baskets and other small leather goods.

Loewe’s “Ken Price” capsule collection will be available online and in-stores on November 12.
