Dior Explores Its Archive Through 'Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams' Exhibition in Shanghai
Following previous installments in London and Paris.
While we were able to see the exhibition virtually due to the ongoing pandemic, Dior has now brought Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams to Shanghai, China. The new location follows exhibits at Paris‘ Musée des Art Decoratifs and London‘s Victoria & Albert Museum.
The retrospective, lauded for becoming the V&A’s most visited, features a scenographic narrative through unique pieces from Dior’s archive. From illustrations by René Gruau and Christian Bérard, to 250 haute couture dresses, visitors will also be able to see works from Chinese artists that have brought the house and China together since 1947. Organized by Oriole Cullen, curator of Modern Textiles and Fashion at the V&A, the exhibition pays homage to Christian Dior, as well as his successors from Yves Saint Laurent to Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams is scheduled to run from July 28 to October 4 at Shanghai’s Long Museum West Bund. Take a sneak peek in the gallery above, along with a virtual tour below.
