ICON 360, the subsidiary of Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR), is set to host its second annual Virtual Designer Retreat this month. For this year’s event, the arts and entertainment organization has teamed up with Nike to bring 75 Black and indigenous designers of color together to learn key strategies on growing their businesses.

Participants will also get the chance to compete for ICON 360’s $1 million USD grant, courtesy of the CFDA/Vogue COVID-19 relief fashion fund’s A Common Thread. On top of that, HFR’s competition will reward two attending designers $10,000 USD each. This will allow creatives to collaborate with an organization dedicated to improving diversity in fashion. Founder of Harlem’s Fashion Row Brandice Daniel said in a statement:

“We have always taken pride in creating an avenue for black designers to learn the industry by talking directly to leading fashion insiders. This year is especially important because our designers will present their collections as well for a chance to win a grant to help their business even further.”

The three-day virtual retreat has invited guest speakers like Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Tracy Reese, Vogue‘s Fashion News Director Chioma Nnadi and more, who will touch upon the topics of “Effective Marketing Post-Pandemic” and “Setting Brand Direction.” HFR’s second annual Virtual Designer Retreat will take place from July 15 to 17.
