BLACKPINK's Rosé Unveils Teaser for Her First Solo Single, "On the Ground"

The K-pop singer will release her debut solo album this week.

UPDATE (March 7, 2021): Less than a week until the official release of her debut solo album R, BLACKPINK‘s Rosé has unveiled a music video teaser for “On The Ground,” her first solo single.

The 15-second clip features a snippet of the guitar-based ballad and offers fans a sneak peek at the upcoming visual. In the clip, the blonde-haired K-pop singer is seen sitting inside a vehicle, wearing a chandelier crystal earring and the same lilac Jean Paul Gaultier gown featured in a previously revealed teaser poster. As the car moves, she removes her furry coat and changes into a slouchy black jacket and platform boots.

Rosé’s “On The Ground” video is set to drop alongside her first solo album R at 12 a.m. EST on March 12. In the meantime, watch the teaser above.

While you’re at it, here’s a guide to dressing like the singer.

UPDATE (March 3, 2021): As fans anxiously wait for Rosé to drop her debut solo album, the BLACKPINK member has announced the title of the upcoming release. Simply titled R, the single record is named after the K-pop star herself, symbolizing her first step as a solo artist.

In the third teaser poster revealed earlier today, the musician is seen in front of a purple-lit background, while the album’s title is placed at the center. Fans have been looking forward to seeing Rosé’s debut, with the preview of her track “GONE” amassing over 45 million views.

ORIGINAL STORY (March 1, 2021): BLACKPINK member Rosé has confirmed the official date for her solo debut. In two teaser posters, shared on her own Instagram profile as well as YG Entertainment’s Twitter account, the K-pop artist reveals that her solo album will release on March 12. One photo shows Rosé outfitted in a lavender purple dress by Jean Paul Gaultier, while in the other image, shot against a backdrop of burning flames, she is photographed from a distance wearing a floor-sweeping red skirt and some platform boots.

An exciting announcement for fans of the New Zealand-born songstress, the news came exactly a month after Rosé offered BLINKS a sneak preview of a solo track titled “GONE,” an emotional breakup ballad, during BLACKPINK’s virtual concert THE SHOW. In case you missed it, watch the teaser video for the song here.
