sacai's Hybrid Aesthetic Merges With A.P.C.'s Minimalism in Unisex Collab
Featuring “SA.P.C.Ai”-branded hoodies, tees, tote bags and more.
Shortly after unveiling its Fall/Winter 2021 collection, A.P.C. has announced it will be dropping a collaborative capsule with sacai. Dubbed “Interaction#9,” the duo is set to release unisex styles featuring a fun rework of their logos, resulting in “SA.P.C.Ai.”
“This ‘Interaction’ is a precise illustration of how A.P.C. and sacai came together, interweaving diverse elements of language to achieve a sort of crossbreed that represents the style of our two brands,” A.P.C.’s founder Jean Touitou said in a press release. “These pieces are unusual for us, as they push the limits of what we might call ‘wearability’ as far as possible. They are the fruit of a long process of creative deconstruction and reconstruction. We got enormous pleasure from seeing this clothing being taken apart and redesigned,” he added.
Chitose Abe and Touitou created a range of garments that unite the signature materials of each brand such as denim and nylon. The French label’s hero pieces like the jeans, denim jacket, denim dress and denim tote bag have been reimagined by Abe using her innovative and experimental hybrid technique. Elsewhere, classic tees, sweatshirts and hoodies arrive with zipper effects and are crafted from heavyweight fabric. Meanwhile, the jeans follow a similar hybrid aesthetic and boast nylon-decorated cuffs and waistbands.
