Simone Bodmer-Turner and AGMES Create Collection of Wearable Sculptures
The ceramicist and jewelry brand are a match made in heaven.
Ceramicist Simone Bodmer-Turner dabbled in jewelry for her latest project, a collaboration with accessories brand AGMES. The creative pairing is an apt partnership — at the forefront of Bodmer-Turner’s work are curvy, natural shapes, the kind of sensual forms that much of AGMES’ jewelry takes on.
Riffing on Bodmer-Turner’s work, namely, her collection of vases, the artist transforms the vessels into wearable sculptures. A pair of amoeba-like studs are punctured with a hole, a reflection of Bodmer-Turner’s exploration of negative space. Translating her cocoon-like creations into adornments, small gold hoops form a squiggle around the earlobe.
“Working on a line of jewelry has always been a dream of mine, and for years I’ve been collecting sculptural, biomorphic silver pieces from my travels, flea markets, and designers I admire,” Bodmer-Turner explained of the collaboration. “It was a fun exercise in sculpting really small, and I am enormously grateful to AGMES’ team for working with my tiny sculptures to turn them into all the many small metal pieces that form this collection,” she added.
