Snoop Dogg Plans to Launch the First-Ever NFT Record Label

Through Death Row Records, which he just acquired last week.

Following his performance at the Super Bowl halftime show earlier this week, Snoop Dogg took to Clubhouse to announce that he plans to make Death Row Records the first NFT record label.

“Death Row will be an NFT label,” Snoop said. “We will be putting out artists through the metaverse. Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent [label] to be major, I want to be the first major [label] in the metaverse.”

The news comes after the rapper dropped his new album, BODR, on February 11 in partnership with blockchain gaming company Gala Games. The record released in the form of a stash box of NFTs in the Gala Music store, which includes one NFT song and three exclusive bonus tracks.

“If anything is constant, it’s that the music industry will always be changing,” Snoop shared in a press release. “Blockchain tech has the power to change everything again and tip the table in favor of the artists and the fans, and we’re going to be right at the front of the pack with this Gala Music deal.”

Snoop Dogg acquired Death Row Records from MNRK Music Group just last week. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members,” he stated.

No further information about the artist’s NFT label has been disclosed yet. Stay tuned while we wait for more information.
