The pair met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was released in 2017. At the time of filming, the Euphoria star and the British actor became really good pals, who would help each other out. “We are like the best of friends,” he told People at the time. “She’s so great and amazing. I’m a little worried [about dealing with fame … but] Zendaya is super famous and she’s been through this, and I just call her up and say, ‘How do I manage being famous?’ I’m very glad I have a friend like her.”

In May, Zendaya and Holland appeared on Lip Sync Battle, where they performed several songs, including a mashup of “Singin’ in the Rain“/”Umbrella.” The episode became a viral hit, which forever highlighted their playful dynamic.
After dating rumors began to circulate about the pair going on vacation, they took to social media to set the record straight.

In February, Zendaya and Elordi were spotted kissing in New York City. Though they never confirmed their relationship status, things seemed to have fizzled out; he became involved with model Kaia Gerber seven months later. On the other hand, Holland and Bolton called it quits in April. By July, Holland had reportedly moved on with Nadia Parks, whom he shared a photo of on Instagram and was rumored to have quarantined with.

It’s unclear exactly when Holland and Parks split. What we do know is that in July, Zendaya and Holland once again sparked dating rumors after they were photographed kissing in a car.
They seemingly went Instagram official when Holland gave Zendaya a sweet birthday shout-out. “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your up xxx,” he captioned a mirror selfie of them.

During a BuzzFeed News video interview in October, Timothée Chalamet was asked who is Zendaya’s “biggest celebrity crush” to which he answered, “Easy, Tom Holland!” Zendaya did not confirm or deny but she did immediately start laughing.
In a GQ interview published in November, Holland vaguely opened up about his relationship with Zendaya. “I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway,” he said. “We sort of felt robbed of our privacy. I don’t think it’s about not being ready — it’s just that we didn’t want to [talk about it].”
December was a crucial month for the couple, who shared many special intimate moments on the red carpet while promoting the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Additionally, Zendaya showed Holland some love on the ‘Gram. “My Spider-Man, I’m so proud of you, some things never change and good thing,” she captioned a post.
