Louis Vuitton Continues to Celebrate Virgil Abloh's Legacy in SS23 Menswear Collection

Accompanied by a live performance from Kendrick Lamar.

Amid rumors of Martine Rose taking reins, Louis Vuitton showcased its Spring/Summer 2023 menswear collection created by the house’s design team as it seeks the successor of Virgil Abloh, who shocked the fashion and art industries with his untimely death in November 2021.

Titled “Strange Math,” the runway was an exploration of imagination and reality, kicking off with a marching band performance from the Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. Models then walked out onto the stage dressed entirely in canary yellow as Kendrick Lamar delivered a powerful performance from his seat at the show. He began with chanting “Virgil,” following up with some of his tracks including “N95.”

The lineup began with a range of soft grayish lilac suits accessorized with white LV-monogrammed bags, followed by bold floral motifs appearing on jackets, trousers, coats and more. The same hue was applied to denim pieces while colorful beaded details highlighted an all-white number. Elsewhere, neon green jackets came in warped shapes, accompanied by equally striking boots branded with the LV logo.

Additional standouts include a black tuxedo with paper planes attached throughout, while multicolored charms continued to embellish beanies, belts, chains and more. Models also wore Louis Vuitton sound systems strapped to their backs to highlight Abloh’s passion for design.
