Apparently, Employees No Longer Think Porn Is NSFW
Yes, you read that correctly.
Watching porn was once a shameful act but according to recent studies, people are ditching shame and choosing pleasure — even on the clock.
In 2021, Pornhub found that aside from midnight hours, most people watched porn during work hours. Digital lifestyle magazine, Sugarcookie, asked people if they watched porn at work and a surprising 60 percent admitted they had.
That same year, clinical psychologist Arash Emamzadeh reported that many people watch porn because they’re simply bored and need entertainment. Considering porn is adult entertainment, it makes sense. What’s surprising is that people are not only watching porn at work, but they’re also viewing NSFW content on work computers, where history can be tracked.
Craig Jackson, a professor of occupational health psychology, shared that although porn is commonly viewed for erotic purposes, its use in the workplace can be different. For some, it can act as an escape or even rebellion from a workplace where they feel “faceless.”
