How Much Do You Know About the Biggest Street Style Trends of SS19?
From hair clips to itty-bitty bags, here are 8 trends that are dominating Fashion Month.
Street style during Fashion Month is almost always as captivating as the main event itself. While chunky dad sneakers and fanny packs dominated most of 2018, fashion enthusiasts are developing new obsessions with other statement-making accessories this season. In Stockholm, New York, London, Milan and Paris, trendsetters have been showing us daring ways to wear some of the biggest trends of the Spring/Summer 2019 season. You may not be aware of them yet, but soon enough you’ll find yourself wearing bejeweled hair clips and lusting over micro-bags à la Jacquemus.

Hair Clips
Whether covered in girly pearls or spelled-out like Ashley Williams‘ designs, hair clips are having a major moment in SS19. The British label’s “Witch” hair clip set is available at SSENSE for $140 USD, but if you’re not fully committed to make the splurge, you could still wear the trend with a good old pack of bobby pins that contrasts with your hair color.
Silk Headscarves
We’re not entirely sure if A$AP Rocky started the trend, but his social media-viral “babushka” look seems to have inspired the outfits of many showgoers this season. Silk scarves, whether plain in color or printed with monogram like Burberry‘s, are worn as headscarves or bows that elegantly sit atop ponytails.
If you’re looking to invest in one, Gucci and Valentino both have some great options in their collections.
Padded Headbands
A key accessory in Prada‘s SS19 runway show, retro padded headbands are another crowd favorite this season. The Blair Waldorf-esque item is timelessly chic, and makes for an instant fix to any bad hair day. Prada’s embellished, stain design, marked with a hefty price tag of $970 USD, is now available for pre-order at Moda Operandi. The Italian brand has also released a millennial pink version for $240 USD.
Really, Really Tiny Handbags
If we’ve learned anything from the reactions towards Jacquemus‘ itty-bitty bags at its FW19 show, it’s that mini handbags are definitely here to stay this year. Are they the most practical? Absolutely not, but who cares when you have a cute conversation starter in your hands?
The Jacquemus Le Sac Chiquito and its new Le Vanity bag are available for $540 USD and $315 USD respectively.
Furry Wrap Coats
When cold-weather dressing gets dull, there’s nothing that a furry, robe-like coat can’t fix. Whether coming in neutral tones or brighter colors like Eva Chen‘s lilac number, faux fur wrap coats are style mavens’ choice of outerwear this season. If you’re into it, check out this sky blue style by Danish label Stine Goya ($580 USD) as well as this teddy-bear style from Tibi ($695 USD).
Suits
It’s not like power suits are a completely novel idea, but during Fashion Month, we’ve certainly been seeing a lot of the office-appropriate two-piece. Pro-tip: throw on a pair of statement sunglasses and reach for an unconventional, sculptural handbag to demand even more attention.
This minimalist pantsuit from The Row is on our wish list.
Bucket Hats
Rain or shine, bucket hats make a great accessory for the spring season. With style and function all-in-one, the headwear style could really add some street sensibilities to an outfit. From Prada and Burberry, to AMBUSH and Acne Studios, the design is included in the SS19 product offering of some of the hottest brands right now.
Neon Colors
Carried over from Fall/Winter 2018, bold neon hues continue to rule the Fashion Week circuit this season, with fluorescent pink, green and orange appearing on attention-grabbing apparel and footwear. In particular, the Prada Linea Rossa line is often spotted outside show venues.
Find your neon colored pieces from Balenciaga, Acne Studios, Palm Angels and more if you dare to go bold.
