Lingerie and intimate apparel have been on the rise ever since the pandemic began, alongside ongoing trends like loungewear and comfy slides. According to WWD, underwear labels like Knix and MARY YOUNG saw a surge in sales last year, while brands like Zara expanded their offerings to reflect the market shift. As we anticipate another year mostly spent indoors, we’ve gathered some of the hottest trends to look out for and try in the world of lingerie.

As expected, comfort is at the top of the list. Rather than bras with full support, people are looking to wear wireless options that can be worn all day long. At the same time, women are wearing lingerie to feel good, opting for sexy and intimate looks with fabrics like lace and silk.

Mid- to High-Rise “Granny” Briefs

Comfort has become a keyword in most aspects of fashion as people opt for WFH-friendly sweats and loungewear to relax in at home. Building on the new lifestyle, mid- to high-waisted briefs, otherwise dubbed “granny panties,” have become increasingly popular in the lingerie space. This year, you’ll see these styles in many underwear drawers as they’re perfect to wear on their own or under a pair of cozy sweatpants.

Wireless Bras

Wires and extra support have become less of a priority with the ongoing pandemic. Just like “granny panties,” the desire for comfort has translated to bras, with light, minimal styles trending rather than underwired options. We can expect to see more undergarments that put comfiness first.

Silk Slips

Slips are not only extremely easy to wear and take off, but have made their return over the past years for sparking ’90s to ’00s nostalgia. As we channel our Y2K style icons, you’ll be sporting these pieces both in and out. On top of that, silk is known to be beneficial to the skin, making the garment all the more desirable.

Sultry Lace Designs

Some of our favorite lingerie labels, including Fruity Booty, Dora Larsen and Fleur du Mal, are continuing to roll out sensual, barely-there lingerie designs to make us feel good and confident. These intimates will be a great way to spice things up every once in a while.

Bodysuits

Bodysuits are making a grand return in 2021. The undergarment is becoming increasingly loved for its versatility as it can be worn for both lounging around and Zoom calls, all depending on how you style it. Throw on a blazer for your next virtual meeting, or wear it with a pair of baggy sweatpants for the ultimate WFH fit.
