Dame Pat McGrath Launches 5-Hour-Long Playlist on Apple Music
In honor of Black History Month.
Named Dame of the British Empire in December 2020, D.B.E. Pat McGrath has curated a playlist in partnership with Apple Music. The release comes as part of a series honoring Black History Month, which features original works by the likes of Ava DuVernay, Tracee Ellis Ross, Naomi Campbell and more.
“I am honored to partner with Apple Music to commemorate Black History Month by creating a playlist celebrating the role of the ‘Matriarch’ and the strength and leadership of Black women. Curating nearly five hours of music from inspirational icons and legendary ladies of the past, present and future was a joy,” the makeup artist shared in a press release. The 73-track-long roster kicks off with Beyoncé‘s “Formation” and Nicki Minaj‘s “Chun-Li,” followed by some of the hottest artists of the generation including Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Lizzo and more. It additionally features classic tunes from Diana Ross and Whitney Houston.
On top of the music playlist, Apple will be honoring Black History Month through 24-hour music video takeovers with Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, H.E.R. and more through Apple Music TV. Listen to Dame Pat McGrath’s “Matriarchs” playlist down below.
