'The Powerpuff Girls' Cartoon Is Getting Another Reboot
Confirmed by the show’s original creator, Craig McCracken.
This is not a drill: Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup are returning thanks to an upcoming reboot of The Powerpuff Girls cartoon.
Craig McCracken, who created the animated show, took to social media top confirm the news that both The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends are set to make a comeback via Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. “So excited to partner with an incredible studio to develop new characters and stories for two of my favorite creations!” McCracken tweeted.
“The Hanna-Barbera homecoming of Craig was an opportunity we could not pass up,” said Sam Register, president of Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. “Along with his unparalleled sense of fun and imagination, he’s bringing two of his greatest works in The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, and we are so excited for these characters to be a part of the new legacy taking shape at the studio.”
The original The Powerpuff Girls ran from 1998 to 2005. Then, from 2016 to 2019, the animated show made a comeback without McCracken. Additionally, there’s a CW live-action version in the works.
