Prada Is Still the Hottest Brand in the World
According to Lyst’s Q1 2023 Index report.
Lyst just revealed its Q1 index for 2023, and Prada is officially the hottest brand in the world for a second time running.
Next in line is Miu Miu, whose insurmountable success clearly knows no bounds — acclaimed in part because of its contribution to Balletcore, star-studded runway shows and its recent New Balance collaboration. Marking the brand’s highest ranking since the Lyst index first began, we have a sneaking suspicion that Prada might not be number one for much longer.
In third place is Moncler, which remains in the same position as last year, followed by Valentino at number four and LOEWE at number five. Bottega Veneta stays in sixth place, while Dolce & Gabbana surprisingly still takes a spot in the top 10 at number seven. Versace jumps five spots into eighth place this quarter, potentially due to its Los Angeles runway show, which led to over 39.8 million views on Tiktok and an impressive search increase of 44%.
One of the biggest movers for Q1 is Gucci, which despite having the top spot on multiple occasions, dropped right down to the ninth place. The reason remains unknown, but we can likely chalk it down to the departure of Alessandro Michele and the distinct lack of appearances from Harry Styles as a result. Completing the top 10 is Saint Laurent, whose growing affiliation with the stars of K-pop seem to support its ongoing relevance.
Following the top 10 is Dior, Nike, Louis Vuitton, Diesel, Burberry, Fendi and SKIMS — the latter of which makes its Lyst Index debut this quarter. Balenciaga still features in the top 20 but falls seven places to number 18, likely as a result of the brand’s recent controversies. At number 19 sits Jacquemus, while JW Anderson enters the top 20 for the first time. According to Lyst, Anderson is the third creative director to be at the helm of two of the Lyst Index’s Hottest Brands over the same quarter, following in the footsteps of Virgil Abloh and Miuccia Prada.
Outside of brands and designers, Q1’s hottest products include Uniqlo‘s viral shoulder bag, alongside Diesel’s denim maxi skirt, adidas’ Gazelle sneaker and somewhat divisively — MSCHF’s Big Red Boots.
