KITH Women Celebrates Barbie's 60th Anniversary with an Immersive Collaboration
The winning outfit of the event’s styling session will become the exclusive doll’s official look.
In celebration of Barbie‘s 60th Anniversary, KITH Women has collaborated with the American toy company for an immersive experience. The iconic doll brand will be taking over the label’s New York flagship store and will be introducing a styling contest for customers, as well as an in-store museum.
By appointment only, KITH will host styling sessions at its SoHo location from September 21 to 29 where participants will choose from four Barbie dolls that they will style and dress from a selection of KITH Women’s 80-piece collection. Entrants will then be able to submit a photo of their styled doll judged by Dianne Garcia, Jackie Kim (director of KITH Women), Maeve Reilly, Ade Samuel and KITH founder Ronnie Fieg. After the judges pick the top six, the outfits will be published via @kithwomen‘s social platform where the public will decide the winning look. The submission with the most votes will become the official limited-edition Kith x Barbie doll which will release in late 2020.
Until October 2, guests can visit the exhibition that showcases Barbie’s iconic black and white chevron swimsuit alongside other milestone moments. In addition, KITH will be designing and selling limited-edition KITH x Barbie 60th Anniversary T-shirts for the first 200 guests. Get ready to channel your inner 7-year-old and expect nothing but nostalgia during this immersive collaboration.
