Collina Strada Channels '00s Sci-Fi Series 'Animorphs' for FW21 Collection
The quirky GIF lookbook features designs made with recycled fabrics.
With Fashion Week going digital this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Collina Strada has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2021 collection through a series of eccentric GIFs. The unique lookbook features models in the latest styles morphing into animals.
This time around, designer Hillary Taymour tapped the OG Animorphs illustrator David Burroughs Mattingly, as well as Charlie Engman and Freeka Tet in order to bring her concept to life. Models like Aaron Philip, Ruby Aldridge, Jeremy O. Harris and Kathleen McCain Engman are seen turning into cats, peacocks, praying mantises and a balloon dog.
As for the collection itself, garments are crafted from leftover materials, recycled fabrics and repurposed tees sourced from the Kantamanto market in Ghana. Silhouettes boast eye-catching prints and vibrant colorways, while standout pieces include voluminous dresses that are paired with sheer stretch tank tops and button-down shirts. Elsewhere, Taymour has also reworked vintage crop tops, dresses and pants from TheRealReal.
