A Juicy New 'Gossip Girl' Reboot Trailer Is Here
There’s sex, scandal and lots of money.
A second trailer for HBO Max‘s Gossip Girl reboot just released, and it’s scandalous. The two-minute teaser, set to Frank Ocean‘s “Super Rich Kids,” gives us a preview of all the twists and turns in store for Manhattan’s Upper East Side elite: there are threesomes, fashion shows, a new girl at Constance Billard (“She’s not from here,” sneers Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway), and lots of money. Oh yeah, and Gossip Girl is on Instagram now.
Just as producer Joshua Safran promised, the remake sees Constance Billlard’s new in-crowd deal with social media and the fallout it often ensues. Eschewing the OG Gossip Girl website, our favorite rumor-monger runs now an anonymous Instagram account — surely, this will lead to an entirely new set of challenges for the rich and famous as IG Stories, livestreams and more lend themselves to scandal. The trailer also introduces one of the show’s steamier plot lines: a love triangle that sees Akeno “Aki” Mendes (Evan Mock) torn between Audrey Hope (Emily Alyn Lind) and a mystery man.
“Privilege and power will always win the end,” the trailer concludes. Amen.
