A Closer Look at Dior Men's Collaboration With Birkenstock
The luxury house remakes the quintessential clogs.
UPDATE (January 25, 2022): Last week, fashion house Dior unveiled an exciting collaboration in partnership with Birkenstock during its Men’s Winter 2022 show, sharing a tease of the effortlessly cool footwear designs. Now, the luxury label offers a closer look at the upcoming collection.
Transforming Birkenstock’s classic models, the Tokio Mules and the Milano Sandals, Dior reinvigorates the signature shapes, dressing the felt and suede shoes in its trademark Dior gray. Created to closely fit the foot’s anatomy and shape, the Dior x Birkenstock shoes feature a cork latex footbed, rubber detailing and industrial-style buckles, referencing the iconic Dior Saddle Bag.
Keeping the collection fresh and honoring Christian Dior’s reverence for nature, delicately embroidered flowers can be seen on a variation of the Tokio Mule.

ORIGINAL STORY (January 21, 2022): Following this past year’s unexpected collaborations, like Crocs x Balenciaga’s partnership, Dior has teased a new line of footwear with Birkenstock. Since LVMH’s acquisition of the effortlessly cool footwear brand last March, the new line isn’t a complete surprise.
Taking inspiration from the practical yet popular “ugly” shoe trend, the luxury fashion brand has transformed the utilitarian hippie essential into elevated casual footwear. Dior Men’s senior shoe designer Thibo Denis took to Instagram to show off the five new designs, arriving in a rainbow of soft neutral shades from light gray and stone to a rich mocha brown. Delicately embroidered floral patterns adorn one pair, leaning into the ever-popular Gen Z cottage-core aesthetic.
This isn’t Birkenstock’s first high-fashion collection as the classic shoe brand partnered with Rick Owens and created unisex sandals with Proenza Schouler and Jil Sander last year.
