SZA Drops New Track "Shirt" With Music Video Starring Lakeith Stanfield
One of the 100 songs the musician says to have recorded.
After a series of teasers, SZA has dropped her much anticipated single “Shirt” with an accompanying music video starring Lakeith Stanfield as the musician’s love interest.
The Grammy Award winner’s visual for the track, first teased all the way back in 2020, is directed by Dave Meyers with a Quentin Tarantino-inspired aesthetic. The video adds to SZA’s developing acting career as she gears up for Eddie Huang’s Tuna Melt, in which she will star alongside Euphoria‘s Chloe Cherry.
“Blood stain on my shirt/New b-tch on my nerves Old n– got curved/Going back on my word/Damn, bitch, you so thirsty,” SZA sings. “Shirt” arrives shortly after the artist revealed that she’s recorded 100 songs and a new LP could drop “any day.”
Aside from “Shirt,” SZA is nominated for Favorite R&B Song, Favorite Female Artist and Favorite R&B Song for the 2022 American Music Awards. She is also nominated for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award for the BET Soul Train Awards for her hit “I Hate U.” Prior to “Shirt,” she celebrated the fifth anniversary of her album Ctrl with a surprise extended version.
You can listen to “Shirt” at major streaming platforms now.
