VTMNTS' New AH24 Collection Represents Luxury Fashion's Sustainable Future

No gimmicks. Just clothes.

The new AH23-24 collection from VTMNTS offers a look inside the ultimate capsule wardrobe, described by the brand as “Clothing with no strings attached.”

Aiming to separate the youthful diffusion line from the wider, more experimental VETEMENTS umbrella, the new collection offers a pared-back (and arguably more sustainable) approach to fashion, with a distinct focus on “classic clothing archetypes.” Comparing VTMNTS to its parent company, the brand explains that “In VETEMENTS every pattern would be deconstructed or fully reconstructed, even the simplest jersey pieces are fully re-shaped to have quite extreme volumes of body and sleeves, garments are cut apart, re-assembled and worn inside out.”

However, with VTMNTS, the brand aims to do the opposite. “We do not reinvent, we perfect,” it clarifies. Potentially without even trying, the collection offers a look at the sustainable potential of luxury fashion. “No seasonal prints or graphics that will make things look dated once the season is over,” in its press notes suggests a renewed importance on staple pieces that will stand the test of time, without a reliance on trends which, more often than not, lead to waste.

The collection features a range of classic silhouettes like bomber jackets, trench coats and blazers, paired with core fabrics like denim and leather. Each look offers a unisex approach, featuring cropped fits and alternative silhouettes, depending on your style and desired fit. According to VTMNTS, the lookbook process consisted of no hair and make-up teams and no designated sets but instead, a stripped-down approach focusing on just the “essentials,” with the aim to reinvest costs saved on lavish shoots, billboards and influencers, back into the brand’s consumers. Naturally, the collection follows a monochromatic color palette, mostly made up of black, white and beige, alongside subtle accents of red and blue denim.

Finally, the collection aims to make VTMNTS more accessible for its consumers, who currently “face the reality of seemingly unstoppable inflation and unprecedented price increases,” through producing in Europe and offering better, fairer prices in line with the materials used.
