It’s a breakup anthem about their exes.
UPDATE (February 24, 2023): Shakira and Karol G have released their highly anticipated collab, “TQG,” as well as the accompanying music video.
The track is an empowering breakup anthem that features the following lyrics when translated to English: “Baby, what happened?/ Weren’t you in love?/ What are you doing looking for me if you know that I don’t repeat mistakes/ Tell your new baby that I don’t compete for men.”

ORIGINAL STORY (February 22, 2022): Shakira and Karol G are joining forces for the very first time. The Colombian artists announced they’re dropping a song called “TQG,” which stands for “Te Quedó Grande” — it loosely translates to “I was out of your league.”
“We know what you’ve all been waiting for and here we,” they both shared in a joint Instagram post. The collab is set to appear on Karol’s upcoming album, Mañana Será Bonito. “TQG” will be the fifth single off of the album, her Romeo Santos collab, “X Si Volvemos,” being the most recent drop.
“TQG” is rumored to be a diss track. Shakira has recently released two diss tracks –”BZRP Music Sessions #53” and “Monotonía” seemingly alluding to her ex Gerard Piqué, who reportedly cheated on her during their 11-year relationship. Karol also doesn’t shy away from writing about personal experiences. Her Becky G collab, “Mamiii,” is an example of that.
“TQG” drops on February 24 — the same day as Karol’s album.
