Engagement Watches Are the New Engagement Rings, According to Lyst

These are the top trends we can expect brides, grooms and guests to embrace this year.

Global fashion platform Lyst has released its 2021 wedding report, giving us a preview of what trends we can expect brides, grooms and guests to adopt in the coming year.

After a year filled with Zoom weddings and postponed parties, Lyst predicts that couples and partygoers will embrace in-person celebration with festive wear. According to data culled from the platform, searches for bridal mini dresses, embellished pants and rhinestone heels have steadily increased over the past quarter, pointing to the return of glitzy afterparties.

Another notable finding, couples are beginning to invest in “engagement watches,” a forward-thinking alternative to traditional engagement rings. Throughout the past year, queries for watches including the term “wedding,” “couple” and “engagement” have spiked 42 percent.

Couples are also embracing gender fluid wedding wear. After the finale of Schitt’s Creek showed Dan Levy’s David Rose tie the knot in a men’s skirt suit by Thom Browne, searches for “men’s wedding skirts” rose by 26 percent year-on-year.

Head to Lyst’s website to view its full 2021 wedding report.
